The MoMo Fintech Lab has spent the autumn crossing Ghana. MobileMoney Fintech LTD, in partnership with the Bank of Ghana, drew more than 1,700 entries from all 16 regions, ran zonal bootcamps in Tamale on Oct. 19 to 23 and Kumasi on Oct. 26 to 30, and closes the zonal phase in Accra this week, Nov. 2 to 6.

The regional pattern tells its own story. Northern entries leaned to agriculture fintech, the Middle Belt to tools for SMEs and merchants, and the south to simplifying payments. In Kumasi, the Welfare Hub team won the Middle Belt edition for a platform that automates welfare contributions and payments for associations, Ghana News Online reported on Nov. 2. Twelve innovators advance to a National Demo Day on Dec. 3.

Demo Day is where the easy part ends. A hackathon prototype proves an idea can work once, on stage, with the builders standing next to it. A production system has to work every day, for strangers, under a regulator's eye: verified customer identity, complete audit logs, uptime that survives a bad network day, and data handled the way Ghana's Data Protection Act requires.

That gap, between a winning demo and a licensed, secure product, is where most young fintechs will spend the next year. It is also where experienced builders earn their place: hardening the code that won, adding the records and controls that were never part of the pitch, and preparing the system for the questions a partner bank or the Bank of Ghana will ask.

Kspace Technologies Ghana Ltd builds and hardens production systems for fintechs and SMEs in Accra. If your team has a prototype that needs to become a product, talk to KSPACE TECHNOLOGIES about the road from demo to production.
