Applications for Alberta On-Farm Value-Added and Value-Added Programs close on Nov. 9, 2026 at 11:59 p.m., Alberta Beef Producers Daily reported on Nov. 2, 2026. The Sustainable CAP-funded programs will have no further intake this fiscal year after the deadline passes.

The grants fund the practical core of a processing business: processing capacity, food safety systems, product development and market expansion. For small and mid-size processors, that list covers the upgrades most often postponed, from added throughput on a line to the systems that document food safety properly.

After Nov. 9, the next chance is next fiscal year, not next month.

Funding only helps if the project behind it is ready to build. A capacity upgrade needs equipment selection, layout, installation and connection to production and food-safety records, sequenced so the plant keeps running. That implementation work is where processing upgrade scoping and deployment turns an approved application into operating capacity instead of a purchased machine waiting on everything around it.

Processors considering an application should decide this week, not on the deadline day. Confirm eligibility, name the specific capacity or food-safety project, gather the costing, and submit before Nov. 9 at 11:59 p.m., because the program has stated plainly that there is no second intake this year.
