Futurum Group reported on Nov. 3 that RingCentral, in an announcement dated Oct. 28, added tools to its RingCX contact centre platform to supervise, score and staff AI agents and human agents as one workforce, including handoffs in both directions, a single live view for supervisors, quality scoring on the same rubric for both, and staffing forecasts that plan AI and human capacity together. That framing is the story: AI treated as staff, not as magic.
Staff get training, supervision, quality checks and a clear line for when to escalate. Contact centre AI needs exactly the same, because its failures are customer-facing and immediate: a confident wrong answer, a loop with no exit, a handoff that arrives with no context.
The vendors are converging on the honest model. The remaining work belongs to the buyer: which questions the agent may answer, which it must hand over, and what a good handoff contains.
An AI agent without supervision is not automation. It is an unsupervised employee on their first day, forever.
KSPACE TECHNOLOGIES adds AI to the software a business already runs, properly integrated, through our custom software and integration services: knowledge connected, handoffs designed, and quality measured the same way human work is measured.
Start with your ten most common contacts. Automate answers only where the correct answer is documented and stable, design the handoff for everything else, and review real conversations weekly. That discipline, not the model, decides whether customers notice an improvement.
